Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!! Be prepared because this will be the last entry of English Didactics, I will be covering group 7 and group 8 classes. The first group was Diana’s group. In their class they reviewed the time and how to tell time on a clock, but the differentiator from their class was that its focus was on listening more than anything else. They began their class by playing hangman, which I actually had forgotten of the existence of that game, to guess the word they had to think of an object in class and spell them. Afterwards they had a recap on numbers and the use of “there is” and “there are”. Finally, the teachers played an audio in were the students had to take notes about words and phrases related to what they had seen on the class.   Then it was Carla’s group turn, the topic was practically the same but their main focus was on reading, their class actually had like a different kind of theme in comparison to the others, as their cla...

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!!! For this entry I’m covering group 5 and group 6 classes, so lets get into it.  Fernando’s group started the the warm-up with Miriam having an activity where they used knots. So, students could relate and engage in an easier way with students. Then Fernando taught the difference between a clock and a watch and then moved to a recall of numbers. The numbers were focused in the one used for the time (hours and minutes).    Then students had a little practice with some clock to check out what they were learning by the time. Then they asked their students to check down of their student desks a piece of paper that was taped, this was a really cool detail from their part. The paper had some questions that students had to answer. After this, they gave students a cardboard clock to point out the time and then share answers with their classmates. They also did a group activity where they separated boys and girls, finally Mi...

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!!! For this entry I’m covering my group’s class and group 4 class, so lets get into it.   I have to say preparing this class was way easier as we already had a bit of experience from our previous class, although this time we had to change our main focus. For this occasion, our class had to be mainly focused on the listening aspect which actually made it a bit hard to prepare different segments of the class. I have to say when the day finally came, I did feel a little bit unmotivated to teach the class as there were barely any students in the classroom, but I’m thankful for Gustavo and Diana for being volunteers and participating in our class. First Josh gave the students a review of how the simple past should be used and how it structure was just to refresh them a little bit on the topic. Then it was Jonathan’s turn to continue, even him being sick did not stop him for doing an amazing job; he showed the students some images...

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!! In today's blog I'm going to be covering the classes from group 1 and 2.  Group 1 was Noe's group, they were in charge of teaching the daily routine and also some frequency adverbs. They first began doing some charades with activities that someone usually does on their daily routine like brushing your teeth, taking a bath or going to sleep.  They also taught students different kinds of activities that can be done during our daily routine that were not taught before and finally they made some sentences with the new vocabulary they had learned in class. Now moving on with the second group of the day!! For the second group it was the turn of Maru's group, they were in charge of teaching simple present in affirmative, negative and interrogative form. This class was really interesting to me, as their approach to teach a verb tense was really easy to understand, even though it is a difficult topic they made it look simple. They al...

Group 7 & 8 classes

Hello everyone welcome back to my blog!! For this entry I'm covering the last two groups, 7 and 8. Fernando's group were in charge of covering just as my group, numbers and classroom objects, but they were mostly focused on their listening skills. They for the most part made like a review class of last week as most of it had been covered in a vocabulary way. They did put some audios so they had to write some numbers and the objects that were mentioned during the audio. To be honest I even learned how to say "engrapadora" lmao. In the end they asked some questions to see what the students had learned.                                . After that, we had a small break and when we came back it was the turn of Mauri's group. They began their class by having some kind of review of the classroom objects once again, although they were more focused on the reading aspect more than the vocabulary, listening or oral asp...

Group 5 & 6 classes

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog, this is the big one!!! Today I'm sharing with you my group's class and also the class given by group 6. I'm gonna give you an insight of what we did before the main day. Our topic was really simple, we had to review numbers and objects in the classroom, fist we got together through a zoom meeting on sunday so we could discuss what our ideas for the class were, Jonathan proposed some really interesting ideas of how we could manage the class, as he already had some previous experience taching. This became really helpful to us as we managed to develop and create our lesson plan the same day we did our meeting, of course we still had some details to take care off, but everything was mostly complete.  We prepared a canva presentation and also some worksheets for the students.  Thankfully when the day finally came, I was almost 100% healthy for this class so I didn't had any problems. Jonathan began the class by explaining the pron...

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!! Today I'm going to be sharing with you about the classes given by group 3 & 4, pitifully I was not able to attend the day they imparted their classes due to sickness, but I'm still sharing what I've read from other blogs and what my classmates have told me about.  The first group of this day was Noe's group they were in charge reviewing greetings, verbs in affirmative and also a little bit of spelling, although their main focus overall was with the listening aspect. They even had two listening activities to put them to the test. Something quite funny that I've heard from them is that they played some of Chayanne while playing hot potato. ( I found that quite interesting and funny).    Here is also a pic of the group:  The fourth group was Maru's group, they were in charge of spelling and greetings as well, although they were more focused on the reading aspect. For what my classmates have told me, first they had ...

Feedback Class

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!! This blog is about September's 7th class, to which I couldn't attend due to a stomachache, I have to say that this diseases have not been playing fair with this past month, cause as of today I'm writting this blog I'm still recovering from a flu. :( Thankfully Josh told me about what this class was about, thankfully Lic Orlando only gave the grades from the first register and the feedback from the activities we had that register. Jessica was really kind to me and actually did sent me pictures of the our activity group grades and told me about the feedback Orlando gave to us.  Apart from this, we also had to make groups for our first classes with students, luckily we got group 5 and the topics we had were vocabulary related to numbers and classroom objects which I do like as I find it interesting for our first class. It might be a challenge but lets see how things turn out. Our first class is going to be on the 28th of Septem...

PDP class

Imagen
Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!! I hope everyone of you is doing good, for this class I'm covering what we learned on the class of the 31st of August. For this class we learned about PDP, and what is PDP?? This is a type of approach that word by word is Pre, during and post.  For the first stage (Pre), the teacher will have to give some kind of warm up to the topic without actually teaching the topic straight away, that being by asking students questions related to the topic, to check how is their knowledge related to the new topic or even showing a video about the topic in a way that just works as a small introduction. For the second stage (During) , the teacher will have to give instructions to the students to begin an activity in which they will have to use what they have learned on the first stage. The teacher must give clear instructions to the students of what they'll have to do in order to be efficient. If the instructions aren't clear the students may h...

Group 1 and 2 classes

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!!  For this post I'm going to cover the first actual classes given by group 1 and 2.  The first group was Diana's, something that I really liked from them was they still could reuse their "teacher shirts" from their last activity. They began the class by giving name tags to each student so it could become easier to remember everyone's name.  This group's topics were the alphabet and some common greetings, but before they started teaching they got into a circle in which everyone had to participate to repeat the previous name that was mentioned, until the last person would say everyone's name.  This group as mentioned before focused on the alphabet and on some greetings, they did put a lot of effort into the pronunciation of each letter as well as giving an example of a word with the letter they showed on their PPT. For the greetings topic they emphasized a lot in the structure and how they could use it on a daily...

Hi everyone and welcome back to my blog!! In this blog I’m going to be sharing with you what we did on exam’s week, in which we gave our first grammar and vocabulary classes of this semester of Didactics 2.   First group The first class we had was by group 1 which was lead by Diana, out of all of the groups this one was the only that had their own personalized teacher t-shirt. The class they gave was focused on hospital related vocabulary and also some phrases that are used on this context, some of the terms we learned were actually new to me, so got to learn some of the vocabulary.   Here is a picture of the alphabet soup we did! Here is a picture of the group Second Group For the second class it was actually my group’s turn to talk about the third conditional and its structure. Throughout the class we gave and explanation of what a conditional was and the structure that we have to use in the third conditional, apart from having some exercises and practice for t...

Hello everyone, welcome back to my blog!! Unfortunately this is the last blog of the register, to which I have to say went by really quickly. We are almost in September!! I actually was not able to attend past week's class due to medical reasons, although I asked some of my classmates what was the class the about and I read some of my classmate's blogs too. Lic Orlando talked about the PPP classes, which consist on:  Presentation : In the initial stage, the teacher spends the majority of his time explaining what the topic is going to consist about. During this stage, students will master various concepts. This stage is primarily for teachers and requires ingenuity to effectively guarantee student understanding.   Practice : The interaction between students and teachers is twofold, with students actively practicing and teachers providing important guidance and supervision. There are two practice modes: controlled practice and free practice. The former minimizes the possib...

Hello there and welcome back to my blog!! From what I’ve read on other classmate’s vlogs I see what they meant when they referred to Mrs. Brendaly’s activity. I was quite confused at first because I don’t remember seeing her around or so until I read that she specifically called some students to help her on some tasks with other students. Now moving on for this week we had the opportunity to receive a talk about our career from Mrs. Regina who is professional on the area of interpreting and also was a student at the university. She shared a lot of important and vital information about being an interpreter, she also gave us some tips on how to start and how to charge when we are new on the market, the same for the translation market and finally she also gave us some experiences she had throughout her career as an interpreter. Here are some recommendations she gave us when charging for our work.  Here are some of the companies she shared with us to get equipment for our inter...

Activities in classroom

Hello everyone welcome back to my blog!! In our last class before entering our august vacations we covered more about lesson planning as we did not have class the week before, this was like a continuation of the same topic.  Throughout the whole class we took a deep look into how to "warmup" the lesson before starting, by having a way of activating the mind of our students, then introducing the topic, to then move into a fun activity that can work as a ice breaker so the group gets to distract and have some fun, so finally we get to create a community. We also reviewed some activities that can be done in class, here are some: - Activities to group people: Name tags, shirt colors, age groups and even names were some of things that we thought could be used to ease the grouping of people ( in class I actually came up with the idea of grouping people by their zodiac sign or birth date).  - Activities to measure time:  To measure time, we can simply use an online stopwa...

First entry of the semester

Imagen
Hello everyone!! Welcome back to my blog!!   Well who would have thought? We are on our last semester of the major. I’m really excited as this will be our last classes, so we need give our last push.   On Thursday we had our first session of English Didactics 2, it was a bit tiring to get to the classroom as now we have our classes in the last floor, but that does not stop me lmao. In this class we were introduced to what the whole semester is going to be about and also some of the challenges we will face throughout the course. It feels a bit strange that in this semester we will actually have to teach real people, I still find kind of unsure of how that is going to turn out, but I’m hoping everything goes fine.   Who even knows, maybe at the end of the semester it can turnout that I enjoy teaching, so let’s give our last push of effort for our last semester!!
